Former DPS accountant pleads guilty to embezzling - Detroit News

Detroit ? A former Detroit Public Schools accountant has pleaded guilty to embezzling funds from the A. Phillip Randolph Career Center.

Eugenia Holiman is charged with one count of conducting a criminal enterprise and under a sentencing agreement, faces 30 months to 20 years in prison and $75,000 in restitution to be paid prior to the date of sentencing, according to the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office.

Holiman also pleaded to one count of embezzlement by a public official, which carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.

Wayne County Circuit Judge Cynthia Gray Hathaway is to sentence Holiman on Nov. 15.

"We will continue to work closely with the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office and law enforcement authorities to ensure that funds and resources intended for students and the classroom are not misdirected for anyone's personal benefit," DPS Emergency Financial Manager Roy Roberts said in a press release.
