Accountant ? Deputy Treasurer - Third Sector

Are you an accountant? (Ideally you will have treasurer/trustee or management committee experience too)

Can you give at least 12 months commitment to SAFE?

Can you volunteer a minimum of 8 hours per month?
(This will include 3 hours for BoT meetings currently held on the last Monday of each month, and the rest of the time is devised for sub group meetings, planning, fundraising, publicity and other needed tasks and activities)

Who Are We?
SAFE UK is a not for profit young people?s organisation that provides free independent information, advice and support to all young people aged 11 to 25 years old, who live, work, study or socialise in London, regardless of their gender, background, culture, religion, sexual orientation, disabilities, etc.

What Do We Do?
SAFE UK is currently in its initial set up and developmental stage and is currently building its policies, procedures and organisation systems and structure to ensure that our core services will meet the needs of the young people we aim to reach.

SAFE UK will be providing the following core services to young people across London, Information, Advice and Guidance, Counselling, Personal Development and Life Skills, Art, Drama and Music Therapy, Life Coaching, Alternative Therapies, Sexual Health Services and Social and Support Groups.

What Is The Vacancy?
We are looking for a Deputy Treasurer on the Board of Trustees to join us to;

1. Book keeping & recording keeping,
2. Be a signatory for the bank account,
3. Financial planning & budgeting,
4. Manage income - fundraising and contracts,
5. Review, create and develop financial systems for recording transactions,
6. Regularly keep the Board of Trustees informed of the financial position of the organisation,
7. Advise on financial policy - e.g. claiming expenses,
8. Produce annual statements of accounts for the AGM and BoT,
9. Ensure accounts are properly audited according to charity law,
10. Keep up to date with financial legislation and Charity Commission regulations,
11. Ensure all bills are paid,
12. Stock control and equipment maintenance,
13. Other tasks in-line with the Charity Law on the role of Treasurer.

  • Knowledge and experience of financial systems, policies and procedures in the voluntary and community sector, and ideally current involvement in the sector;�
