TOOWOOMBA accountant William John Dingle has been charged with fraud to the value of more than $50,000.
Dingle, 58, was not required to be in Toowoomba Magistrates Court yesterday for the first mention of the matter, but was represented by a Brisbane-based solicitor who asked for an adjournment.
No plea was required to be entered on the single charge of "fraud, dishonestly obtaining property from another to the value of over $30,000" as it appeared on the court papers.
It is believed the charge arises from the complaint of a client which alleges the misappropriation of about $58,000.
Police investigations are continuing.
Magistrate Damian Carroll remanded Dingle on bail and adjourned the matter for mention back in the same court on September 26.
